    Hi Annik

Just wanted to say how much I’ve been enjoying your blog and website. I am huge admirer of the High Line but live in London so don’t get to visit it anywhere near as often as I would like. Reading about it throughout the changing seasons in your posts is the next best thing…

Do you happen to know when the planting up of the new section is scheduled for? I have tried to find this out by emailing the official High Line address a couple of times but didn’t get a response. I know construction work has been underway on this section since last autumn but would really like to find out whether Piet Oudolf will be designing the plantings for the new area and whether it will be planted up this year or perhaps next spring.

Any information on this would be much appreciated!

    Many thanks

    Sue

Dear Sue, thanks for your kind words about my blog. Yes, Piet Oudolf will be doing the garden design for the final section of the High Line at the Rail Yards, along with the same team that designed the first two sections of the park (Field Operations and Diller, Scofidio & Renfro). If you click here you’ll find a slideshow on the Daily News’ website that shows the preliminary design for section 3 at the Rail Yards, and the one I linked to explains that Piet will be doing the plant design. There’s a lot of information about the Rail Yards project on the High Line’s official website; click the Rail Yards category and you can scroll through previous updates. You can sign up for their newsletter which is a great source of information.
