The progress of the High Line and Hudson Yards is so a counter to the two factions, formerly opposed – the property owners underneath, and the neighbors coveting that elevated open space: the owners previously wanted development, and were afraid making the high line a park would prevent it have been rewarded in spades – and the neighborhood preservationists have paid the price for a beautiful park with these new buildings, virtually all of which are taller than the 7 stories they had wanted to be the max. Money talks.
